The Buffalo Farm and the Shop
Our Farm and its Fauna and Flora
The farm has a total of around 120+ acres, mostly woodland. We grow hay in the fields across the road. In our gardena alongside the house, we grow what are generally referred to as specialty crops such as several types of tomatoes, peppers, onions, scallions, eggplants, Swiss chard, kale, lettuce, green and yellow beans, broccoli, cauliflower, red and green cabbage, Brussels sprouts, garlic, rutabaga, zucchini, yellow, butternut and acorn squashes, pumpkins, asparagus, carrots, beets, corn and blueberries. Of course, all of these are sold in the shop when in season. We've presently have about 24 head of bison. We also have plenty of local wildlife fauna such as turkeys, deer, geese, ducks, a pair of bitterns, blue herons, kingfishers, hawks, numerous songbirds, crows and ravens, coyotes, mink, martens, ermine, fishers, and the occasional moose, wolf and panthers (both black and tan phases). On one occasion, we saw a wolverine - which everyone said wasn't possible until one was shortly thereafter run over on 28N in Minerva.
